The Role
We are looking for a .NET / SQL Server Developer to contribute to the continuity, improvement, and progressive modernization of our technology platform.
This role is designed for someone who enjoys understanding existing systems, analyzing business rules, working with data, solving complex problems, and proposing reliable, sustainable solutions that are well aligned with user needs.
The position will focus primarily on backend development, SQL Server, database processing, application logic, score calculations, business rules, and operational workflows. The successful candidate will regularly be responsible for preparing, validating, and maintaining test score calculation scripts, which requires strong logical, quantitative, and analytical rigour.
The person may also be called upon to work on certain front-end components in order to support the platform’s functional evolution, accessibility, and user experience.
Our current environment is built primarily on .NET Framework 4.8, SQL Server, and some ASP Classic components. This role will also contribute to preparing and supporting a gradual migration toward more recent technologies within the .NET ecosystem, ideally .NET 8 or later.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain, enhance, and improve existing applications built on .NET Framework 4.8.
- Design, optimize, troubleshoot, and document SQL queries.
- Develop, validate, and maintain test score calculation scripts, including the implementation of formulas, scoring rules, weightings, thresholds, norms, and interpretation logic.
- Understand, maintain, and improve database calculations, processing, and logic.
- Analyze and resolve application, technical, or data-related issues.
- Understand business rules and operational processes in order to propose appropriate solutions.
- Work on selected front-end components as needed.
- Contribute to improving accessibility, user experience, and the overall quality of the platform.
- Document critical components and important technical decisions.
- Participate in the progressive modernization of the architecture and technologies in use.
Desired Profile
- Strong experience in C# and .NET development.
- Excellent command of SQL Server.
- Education or significant experience in mathematics, statistics, quantitative sciences, scientific computing, actuarial science, engineering, or another field requiring strong logical and quantitative reasoning skills.
- Demonstrated ability to understand, validate, and implement complex calculation logic related to test scoring, interpretation rules, and data processing.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to understand existing systems, business rules, and complex application logic.
- Rigour, autonomy, curiosity, and sound technical judgment.
- Ability to learn and integrate new technologies, particularly within the modern .NET ecosystem.
- Good knowledge of Git, Azure DevOps, and collaborative development practices.
- Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Client-oriented mindset and a commitment to proposing useful, reliable, and sustainable solutions.
- Fluency in French is required.
Assets
- Experience with ASP Classic, ASP.NET Web Forms, or MVC.
- Experience with, or a strong interest in, .NET 8 or recent versions of .NET.
- Knowledge of psychometrics, measurement, applied statistics, quantitative analysis, or score calculation validation.
- Knowledge of web accessibility principles, including WCAG standards.
- Experience with Azure or a Microsoft cloud environment.
- Interest in HR, online testing, data, or psychometrics.
- Functional proficiency in English.
